Ground hog day. Which city, camp site, holiday resort are we in now? Oh yeah, we're in Sydney. That's right I remember, we have a TV - great let's watch news 24. Breakfast as usual followed by more morning TV. I felt sluggish today. I didn't feel like walking around looking at all things city related. After watching 2 hours of TV waiting for Ju to email and write her blog I was ready to go walk-about. We walked the botanical gardens - we couldn't get enough of them. The city seemed busier this morning with cars zipping up, down and across main streets.
We had thought the start of the Sydney to Hobart race would be starting in the Quay opposite the Opera House. However as we moved closer to the harbour it became apparent that it was way out to sea up the channel. We weren't that bothered, we still saw some pretty impressive boats. We weaved our way through crowds of people. The weather was slightly overcast but warm. This was a welcome break from the sun as we would be walking around and working up a sweat. We took a closer look at the harbour bridge. It was fascinating to see the structure up close. I was amazed at the size of the bolts used to fix and hold the metal structure together. I couldn't help but feel that the bridge looked over-engineered and a tunnel would have been more efficient (joke). We walked under, around and along the bridge stopping for an over-priced ice cream that tasted crap!
We spent most of the day walking around the city before returning back to the hotel. I had a snooze whilst Ju pottered around. It was nice to relax in front of the TV again, a small luxury. TV, blog, blog TV, TV blog, blog TV was the theme for the first part of the evening. We had got a bit behind with the photo upload and blog entries. Ju watched Glee and I spent a few hours performing computer blog admin. I also shaved off my ginger beard. I looked younger and less rugged. It felt weird shaving the beard off. I had got used to playing with it, especially with my tongue (anyone with a beard will probably appreciate that observation). Travelmin complete, I curled up on the bed with Ju to watch crap TV. Tomorrow we would meet Vladimir and his family and take a trip to Bondi beach with them.
