I started the hike at an interesting place called Hebdon Bridge which has been voted to be the fourth most funkiest city of the UK. Indeed this old, cute, lively village with its crooked stone houses has a lot of atmosphere. There is live music, bars, cafes, relaxed people... Next time I come here, and I need to stay overnight.
Unfortunately, again, like at the airport all ATMs were out of order. I am wondering if this is on purpose to force people paying by card. I hope so because I have not a single pound with me.
After passing the 500 year old pack horse bridge I started recording the hike.
Now the path leads for about 300 km north - right into Scotland. It started boggy, with great scenery and a tourist accumulation at the "Top Withins". So, who of you knows what famous building that is ? Indeed it is so famous that tourist from all over the world come to that old ruin. Especially Japanese, I heard.
Shortly afterwards, I arrived at tonights B&B. It is an old mill and hosted by an elderly couple. She is archeologist, who digged for fivteen years in Bavaria for remainings from the Neolithic Era. No surprise, I would say some of the Bavarian residents (of that area) resemble still somewhat their stoneage ancestors ;-) .
Anyway she was quite nice and prepared a sandwich for me since the nearby pub is still closed due to the pandemic.
