The rock tour.
Hey i am just to do a blog on the 3 day/2night Uluru camping trip.
The first day we went the culture center, which was pretty interesting. then we did a walk around the base of uluru and had a guided tour round areas of it where we learned about its history etc. That night we watched the sun set looking on at 'the rock'. it very barely changed colour which was a bit disappointing to be honest. usually it goes all kinds of crazy colours (reds and oranges and all kinds of crazy colours). but it was cloudy. Then we ate dinner and went to the campsite. The capsite was basically just the desert. The only toilet you had was a shovel and some toilet roll. There was allso a torch which was helpfull (not that id know, i held it in till morning)
We slept on Swags, which are basically mattresses that you can zip yourself into, seemed a bit dangerous to us tourists having 18 of the worlds 20 most deadliest snakes around. Lucky for us we smell of humans so they left us alone, PHEW! We had a campfire going and played the didgerido, Simmons got it, i was ok, Robson was terrible hahaha. Then we decided to go to bed as we had an early start the next day. it was too hot to actually get into the swags, even at gone midnight so i just lay on top of mine. I woke up a little later on slightly cold so i got inside. when i woke up it wasthe early hours of the morning but still dark. There were more stars than you city slickers can ever imagine. It was amazing!
We were woken up at 4 and had an hour cool van drive. (the van was soo cool, and yet soo messy. but really cool all the same!). So we packed up our swags and headed to Kata tjuta viewing spot. Sunrise was pretty damn ace too. We then went a did a walk around kata Tjuta which was also most entertaining. Tiring all the same. We had all drank 6 litres of water before midday. On the way to the campsite we played 'who the hell are you and what the hell are you doing on my bus' good game, we all got to know eachother very well. one person that particulally stood out was jeon! he was seriously the happiest person i think any of us have ever met. A really nice guy to have around. The new campsite had facilities, hurrah! it allso had a pool which was nice and refreshing, but small. Then we had food sat round had a laugh. Not much elce to say about that night. OH of course there is. simmons' veiw of the stars was slightly SLIGHTLY obstructed by like one branch. he moved in protest (i should mention he did have 12 cans of beer but all the same, he moved). Little did he know till the morning he moved his swag right into a road. oh how we laughed at his near death experience!
The next day began with another early start and a sky filled with gazillions of stars. We went to kings canyon. This was the best of all sites. With a hidden water hole in the middle of it. That was a barrel of laughs (it had water pythons). Simmons waited till robson was in then told him, he swam to the shallows only to find out thats where they 'hung out' hahaha. nothing bad came of it though. then i got in and matt (welsh guy, proper funny) thought it would be hillarious to shout 'argh what that' right next to me. of course i didn NOT find it funny AT ALL!!
We went back to the campsite for some food. me and Robson rode on camels. We though ooo look at that one with the crazy hair. So we hopped on. As the camels walked out in a line tied together with ropes around their necks ours decided to make a run for it, the only thing stopping him was the rope. We were rocking all over the place. It was very scary. in the end we had to get off. There was no taming that wild boy. We got another go for free though which was fun fun fun. While we were busy riding camels Simmons was having a dump, lovely!
We then went back to our hostels, had a wash got our glad rags on and went out for a meal. This is where it all went insaine. basically Mexicans can drink like horses. They told us this and so began a night of some extreme drinking which ended in a lot of laughs and Simmons and Robson intoxicated AGAIN! truth be told we all were. Such an amazing night though. we are all going to miss them crazy Mexicans!!
One drinking game asked the question 'why are you drinking' Simmons answered 'because the Mexicans told me to'. Then our lovely happy jeon did not quiet understand the question and answered 'BECAUSE I AM STILL HUNGRY' what a guy! hopefully he is going to come to liverpool and spread love all over! what a guy.
Another game invited in one of the bars (mainly between me and nik) was a game involving straws. Basically use straws to make a disquises ranging from mustaches to eyebrows. This then lead on the pretending they were cigarettes (childish yes but funny all the same). When one of the mexicans was being sick he asked nik if she would put out her cigarette (it was a straw!!) because it was making him feel sck. hahahaha Mexicans really are CRAZY!!
Now we are stuck in alice springs with nothing to do...boo!!
p.s sorry no pictures we are having trouble, we will get loads on asap. There are some from the tour .www.therocktour.com.au
