Sid Tales from the farm: For the past couple of weeks I have been trying my hand at a bit of organic farming. Having seen Tales From the River Cottage I thought I should check out this simple way of life as a means of living closer to nature in the future. Last week the farm I worked on near Christchurch supplied organic produce to mentally disabled residents living on the grounds. Often the peaceful relationship I was having with nature was interupted with shouts of "I love you" and "You have lovely legs". I wondered if  the effects of weeding leeks for too long was getting to me. So I was relieved to find out it was one of the residents making polite conversation. The highlight of my week was the harvest festival (it is now autumn here) where some of the residents put on a performance of The Tale of St George. It was going so well until the Dragon broke out of the kitchen too early causing panic amongst the performers and audience. All was salvaged as the play resumed and the Dragon once more came forth to challenge St George who by this time had made it onto the stage. I left thinking that farm life made the residents very happy. Knowing that someone thought I had lovely legs also brought a smile to my face and I boarded my bus to my next experience vowing to take better care of them. My farm for the next two weeks is a little different. This one is run as a home farm and is in the middle of the country. Much more up my farm track. Alice and Peter have made me very welcome and showed me my daily chores. I was pretty much left to get on with them as they both have jobs and other commitments to get on with. The highlight of my day are the animals. Armed with a stick and two lively Jack Russells I am often rounding up the male pigs who keep escaping from there field. Betsy is a very effective pig dog, but Buster has taken a liking to grey pig and I had to break up an intimate moment the other day for fear of creating a new breed! One of the pigs is so big (looks a lttle like Jade Goody in the face) that it does not bother to escape, this is the one that does the mating! I guess it is conserving its energy for wining and dining the ladies. Boy are they lucky! Evening are spent sipping whisky with Peter, a native Scotsman. Last night we had pizzas made in their garden wood fired oven. These were absolutely fantastic and I vow never to eat another Dominoes. My favourite topping? Well that had to be the smoked cured pork and garlic sausage! Sidney

andy merrell Sid/Sasha, And you thought I would never leave a message on here? I can tell you this, it's a damn site less dangerous than some of the unspeakable chat rooms I've explored recently. Hell, you wouldn't think that masquerading as a multi millionaire with a big **** looking for love would attract so many wierdos would you? I mean, I'm broad minded, but Christ almighty! Some people just have nothing better to do I guess. Martin, myself and two friends with learning difficulties took a hike across the Brecon Beacons the other day. If you stop on any path there now for too long you get mown down by the retired folk who once spent their final years resting but now see fit to powerwalk the length and breadth of Britain holding ski poles. They might think they know it all, but they missed a trick not grabbing just four hours sleep the night before in a layby in Monmouth like we did and then setting off on our 13 miler without any breakfast or water. As you can tell, things are good here. Spring keeps showing its face, only to be kicked back into touch. Which reminds me, England are still not very good at any of the sports we supposedly invented. I had the misfortune to watch the rugby against Wales in Wales. You'd think they hated us. I am hoping the cricket world cup will be the turning point if the England team can stay sober long enough. I have a bet on that you and Sasha will be home before Mom's bathroom is finished. That probably gives you until the end of the year. My many thanks to Sasha, as always, for the year's respite she has given us, and with that in mind, my sympathies to her also. I trust this small offering finds you both in good spirits and you have not fallen too much in love with the road. Remember, there will always be an England. Anyway, back to the chat rooms. Bro

Grandma Lovely to hear from you this morning, lovely to hear you enjoyed your time with Harry & Ruth, how very welcome they made you feel & helped you to find you're little place in Christchurch!Weather is probably suiting you better in NZ, you're obviously going to be there for some time so I'm sure you'll see the family again before you leave. Karen Oh my god - you must be soooo glad that you have escaped the heavy snow of Brum!  It has just took me 3 hours to get from New Oscott to my dads house!  Needed to the toilet that much I was seriously considering going in a plastic bag but managed to hold on!!!  Hee hee...  If you've gota go you've gotta go!!  Your photos look so brill in comparison!!!!!!!  Hope you are still both enjoying every second!  Post us the pics of Hong Kong - would love to see them!Kazzy  xxxx
