Shanghai!
After our train journey and aquick freshen up we went on our orientation walk of Shanghai getting to know what local amenities we had at our disposal. This finished at the Shanghai museum.
None of us however were really in the mood for wandering around a museum which I know is a little shocking if you know me. We did have a quick browse around the Calligraphy and Traditional Chinese paintings before we left to grab a spot of lunch.
After this I dragged Candy, Susan and Kevin to the French quarter so that I could get my fill of Art Deco buildings. It was a bit of a walk from the subway our guide told us before we got to the right spot and found a nearer one, but oh well we got to see a bit more of Shanghai. When we did see them though I was in heaven. There wasn't as many as I would've liked but one bit of Art Deco is definately better than none. We did end up walking for miles, all the way back to the hotel and I just hope the rest enjoyed it as much as I did.
Unfortunately the evening didn't pan out as well for me as the day. Tonight we were off to see the acrobats. En route with a bit of a kaffuffle (don't know spelling) I managed to leave my purse in the taxi. I did sprint after it though to no avail. We also managed with the help of the door staff at the theatre to eventually get hold of the taxi but he said it wasn't there : ( I have to also say that I was so gratefull to everyone in my group who rallied around to help me. Everyone was amazing. This did however mean that I didn't enjoy the acrobats as much as I should've done. But never mind as that is life.
We only had the moring of the next day in Shanghai before I headed for yet another sleeper train. I'm really becoming very experienced at these. Candy and I decided to head to the Bund as this is meant to be amazing just walking down it. Unfortunately you can't actually currently do this as there is so much building work due to the world expo next year. I did get to see though some more Art Deco buildings so that cheered me up. We didn't do much else as we had to check out at one and meet the group at two, so we just wondered and chilled out. We did find out later though we could've walked the other side to see it from across the river, but our guide didn't inform of this, the building work or how to get to the other side. But again you live and learn.
