As promised, we sped through the south... so nothing to worry about with us. I had booked a place on Agoda just south of Krabi, by the beach... thinking it looked really nice, and we'd have an address to head to, and being a Friday night these places book up over the weekends.
Only after I booked it did I read the comments... O dear... I felt terrible! What if we drive all the way there, only to find its a terrible run down shack!? Well I'd booked it, so we had lunch in Krabi and then continued to see what it was like. Incidently it was raining in Krabi, and didn't seem like that interesting a place, except that they run boat trips to 'James Bond Island'.
Arriving at the hotel, we were met by the manager, who promptly upgraded us to a private villa. So, we ended up with our own sunbathing area, a plunge pool and a huge villa! Wow! I mean there were some mouldy patches, and the doors didn't quite fit, but we thought it was great! The beach was a bit muddy, but considering its all mangroves around there, it was a nice area. I think the people on the reviews were a bit harsh really!
The next day, I had thought we would drive to Trang and find somewhere to overnight. But Fintan was in the zone, and wanted to cross a border! So we headed south, crossing at Wang Kelian. The crossing was really very simple, almost like a drive through fast food place! The only thing was to get the ICP (I still don't know what this is or stands for) we had to get insurance, which is only sold on the Thai side. But we weren't allowed to cross back into Thailand. The bloke made a call and a lady zipped over on her moped, got all our documents copied, zipped back over, and by the time we'd had an iced tea it was all sorted.
Into Malaysia then!
