Noosa is little beach resort 4 hours away from Brisbane. It's quite an upmarket resort however there are quite a few hostels scattered about for backpackers due to it being the gateway to Australia Zoo. We had booked accommodation at the last minute and could only get in one which was the Koala Resort. We realised soon after we arrived why it was the only hostel we could get into! Our room wasn't very nice at all the beds were bunk beds as usual but they were really rickety and the carpet in the room was filthy and old and the showers weren't the best!
The next day we decided to try again to get in another hostel and managed to get in Noosa Backpackers resort which was a lot better than the other place and had free kayaks, surfboards and bikes for hire for the same price!
We decided to take up the offer of the free Kayaks and went to the river near the hostel. There was quite a strong current so it didn't take me and Sarah long before our arms were aching and we wanted to go back!
We decided to go to the beach instead which was really nice and we got to see a pod of dolphins swimming close to the shore. That night we had a walk around the area and also booked our most anticipated trip in Australia to Australia Zoo.
We were up at the crack of dawn to get a 2 hour bus journey to the Zoo. After arriving we went to explore the zoo and crocodiles. The zoo is quite different to Taronga zoo in Sydney as this zoo has mostly Australian animals were the Sydney Zoo has every type of animal. The good thing about the Australian zoo is the fact that you are allowed to hold a Koala bear and get your photos taken holding them. After queuing for quite a while we finally each got to hold a Koala and get some photos taken. It's quite hard to get a picture of a koala awake as they sleep about 23 hours almost as much as Ryan and to show their respect to a fellow sleep lover, Ryan's Koala decided to crap all over him just as he had hold of the koala! That kind of made our day but we still had lots to see there. At Australia zoo a lot of the staff walk around the zoo with various animals so that you can get a closer look at them and take some pictures, and they also have a lot of areas were the tamer animals wander amongst the people and get fed by the visitors which is nice. We also got to visit the famous crocoseum were we got to watch lots of crocs being fed and snakes!
After a great day at the Zoo we headed back to Noosa for one more night before our next stop at Hervey bay.
