I know, it's been a while, I have been busy and the lack of a proper internet connection is not helping either. The four weeks I've had in NZ has flown by and it would have been nice with a few more weeks to explore the North Island but oohh well, can't have it all ;-)
I loved NZ, well almost all of it!
I have talked to so many different people (locals and backpackers), on a wide range of topics, discussed point of views and opinions on culture, politics and interesting thoughts on Europe. I have seen the most breath-taking scenery that I could never have imagined. A truly a wonderful experience.
Tourism is huge in New Zealand even more than I expected especially the Chinese and Japanese spend an absolute fortune, they go on every tour or attraction in the area.
Well, let's see—where to start - I bought a flight ticket from Sydney in Australia to the city Christchurch located on the South Island of New Zealand and therefore my trip started in Christchurch, the city still suffering from the big earthquake back in 2011.
I wasn't meant to have been in New Zealand until the 20th of February but for some reason I had had enough of Australia and just wanted to begin my journey exploring New Zealand - so changed my flight arrival to the 13th of February J
Below is my itinerary for the New Zealand trip - 34 days/33 nights:
South Island:
Christchurch (5 nights), Kaikoura (1 night), Picton (1 night), Nelson (4 nights - which included a full day trip to Abel Tasman National Park), Westport (2 nights - started my journey with the bus company 'Stray' - hop on/hop off bus pass), Franz Josef (2 nights), Wanaka (2 nights), Queenstown (3 nights), Mt Cook (1 night), Rangitata (1 night), Christchurch (1 night)
North Island:
Wellington (3 nights), Rotorua (2 nights), Mt Manganui (2 nights), Auckland (3 nights)
