#One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster# We arrived at Don Muang Airport, Bangkok which is the low cost carrier airport and decided to walk to our hotel Max One House, it didn't seem too far on the map. We asked a nearby hotel security guard for directions to the correct road and he pointed up and left - we later discovered it was down and right. After getting a bit lost we stopped a taxi and the 100 Baht (£2) fare was worth it. We went out for something to eat and decided to brave the local street stands with seating. We ordered two plates of Pad Thai - fried noodles and it was delicious - ordering two further plates was necessary. Very cheap bill - 120 Baht £2.40. Paul spotted a bakery on the way back and settled on a custard bun with what looked like fruit pieces on the top. Bizzarely it was actually a sausage, custard bun....interesting, he still ate it!
Knowing now where the hotel was located, we decided to Walk to the airport the next morning for our flight to Cambodia. It was supposed to be a 30 minute walk in 30 degree heat with our backpacks on. Paul's backpack weighed 13kg and his camera bag weighs just under 10kg. However, when my shoulder started to hurt carrying my 9kg backpack and my rucksack, he carried my rucksack for me. After 30 minutes we were struggling and still a fair way off, we grabbed a public taxi van, well worth the 28p. I think it would have been worth it to have the £2 air conditioned taxi ride all the way, however. Another blog tomorrow - photos may be a couple of days.
