The "national" parks of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in Borneo have essentially been privatised and only rich tourists can now afford to visit them. Overpriced tours and accommodation and a soulless, mall-dominated seafront did not appeal.
KK had only one thing to offer us and that was a direct flight out to Bali.
