20 June - Nepal - Lumbimi
Off we depart making sure our bags are waterproofed with plastic bags this time. It's about a 5 hr drive. We start driving along the valley for a while then start snaking our way up the hillside. The road is busy & we have buses desperate to have head on collisions with us. It's pretty hair raising.
It's getting hotter & hotter, by the time we reach Lumbini which is the birthplace of Lord Buddha its 37 degrees. The authorities have done a great job of building a shelter to protect the old building built in 700bc. We were all a bit too hot & bothered to really appreciate the history of the temple.
We rickshaw the 1or so kilometer to the hotel which is nice & quiet & cool. We were greeted with a cold flannel & juice ... A really nice touch!! What was not quite so nice was the hour wait to get some lunch.... We were advised to go away & come back later.. Which we did.
We also ordered our dinner then to prevent a wait tonight.
After a shower & briefing for crossing the border tomorrow it was dinner & bed.
We are planning on being first at the border so departing 5am.
