Hey guys, I leave Byron Bay today and go to Surfer's Paradise.I left Sydney a week ago and as soon as I got on the Oz Experience Bus, and got chatting to the people around me I knew it was going to be a great group.
The journey was a right giggle, the guys found it particularly funny I referred to the driver as being like a disk jockey!! To this day I'll never know why I didn't just say DJ!!
As for the driver himself - Frat he is without doubt the funniest and most random Australian I have met to date. He has an obsession with cows to the point that his bus is full of inflatable and cuddly cows and when we drove past cows he would get very excitable!! Us girls found him very funny and sweet whereas the lads were a little overwhelmed by his enthusiasticness and zest for life!! He literally talked for the entire 7 hour bus trip and played this song sooooooo many times I lost count!! It does however grow on you after a few times!
Gday Gdayby Slim Dusty….
En route to surf camp we stopped at a pie shop for lunch and I had ....get ready for it... a crocodile pie!! It was okay, I ate it all (as you know I'm not one to leave food) but next time I'll stick to the traditional cheese and onion I think!
We also stopped at Coffs Harbour to see a giant Banana, I took a photo from the minibus, there was no way I was going anywhere near it!!! ;-)Apparently bananas are likely to be extinct in the next 15 years….this is a true story check it out…

So, after a bottle shop stop, have I told you yet they have drive through bottle shops (off licenses) out here!? How random is that?! We arrived at surf camp!! Full of scrawny little blonde surf dudes who insist on their arse crack being on show at all times!! We had a few drinks and dinner and then went down to the beach and had a party! Was a really good night and by the end of it, our group had become a really tight knit little unit!
The next day we had the option of a surf lesson, however I felt way too hungover. Was funny watching everyone else getting completely battered by the waves though!! We then begun our 4 hour journey to Byron Bay.This time we stopped to see a giant prawn !! (not so scary, see photo!)
As soon as I arrived in Byron Bay I immediately fell in love with this cute little town, I have even bought an 'I love Byron Bay t-shirt!'! We pulled up to a surf shop and Frat's brother who is equally as crazy as him, ran onto the bus jumped on Frat (they hadn't seen each other for a few months) and then proceeded to kidnap us when Frat got off the bus and take us round the block giving us a very sarcastic guided tour of the town. I was crying with laughter! It was a very funny experience!!I told everyone we were to meet up later and get very drunk at cheeky monkeys across the road. I've taken on the role of team leader and have been organising things throughout the week for our little gang.I haven't had a group this good since my first couple of trips in November and I feelthe need to introduce you to the new friends I've made and spent this week with….
Naz- from Manchester - my first male friend of the group. Very funny guy, well endowed!! You'll find out how we know this later on in the blog!
Ella - my first female friend of the group, police lady from Birmingham, very sweet.
Mairi - Scottish chick, really lovely and funny. We have a very honest friendship and have shared a lot of interesting stories the past week. She also ate a crocodile pie!
Alex - tall dark and handsome, ok, not so much tall, but a very funny guy. Cruder than me when he's had a few. And insists on licking our faces!! We've kinda got used to it now!!
Elliot - The sweetest guy I have met since I've been away, from London. Some say he sounds like John Terry but don't hold that against him!
Mike and Leane - husband and wife from Canada celebrating their 3 year wedding anniversary out here. Lovely lovely people, very cute together and a lot of fun. Have said we can all go stay with them if we ever go to Canada - yay!
Sophie - my roomie!! a very attractive chick from Belgium, who loves the same kind of music as me! Hoping to meet up in NZ and maybe rent a camper van together!
Ally - really sweet gal, is a spiritual junkie like me so we've had some interesting chats!
Jordan - Quiet lad but very nice…always wears a hat!
Tom - the dancing queen - got very sun burnt the other day and looks very silly!!
Shane -very sweet and caring guy. Although he likes to put his finger up his arse whilst having a wa*k !! he admitted this to us after the beach party!!
So there you have it, these are the people that I've hung out with the past week and who have made my time in Byron Bay so special.I love you guys!!!
So we arrived on Saturday and were told there were 3 beds available in an apartment for an extra $4 a night. Mine and Sophie's ears pricked up at this news…an apartment! OMG, Mairi was up for it too and we skipped along to our apartment only to find it was just a dorm but with its own kitchen bathroom and living space!! It wasn't a private apartment like we had thought either, there was a double room and a German lady called Angelica also staying in the apartment.Angelica proved to be a great roomie, she joined us for nights in and out and often smoked dope first thing in the morning!!
Throughout the week we have grown to love having an apartment, our own living room, sofas, TV and DVD player, our own bathroom, balcony and kitchen. Although the style is basic it has been an absolute treat having an apartment for the week! Just to be able to leave your shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the shower is something in its self! And having a cup of tea in bed or enjoying a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes whilst watching the news on the sofa is awesome!!! Going back to a dorm tonight is going to be tough!!
The only drawer back to having just one toilet for six people is that you often have to queue for a showerand if you're desperate for a wee in the morning you have to cross your legs and wait several minutes!! Well this is what the average person would do, I however was extremely desperate the other morning and had no choice but to go.Now here were my possible options,
1)Ask Sophie if I could pop in whilst she was showering and have a quick wee (she has said she wouldn't have minded!)
2Get dressed and walk down to the general toilets
I however, grabbed a saucepan, squatted over it and relieved myself!!! Before you all start saying how gross I am, I was sooooo desperate and I did wash the saucepan with boiling water and washing up liquid afterwards. I felt kind of bad and wasn't going to tell anyone but you know me guys, I can't keep secrets, least of all my own and so by lunchtime I had confessed to Mairi and Sophie who were of course horrified but did eventually see the funny side!I didn't have the guts to tell Angelica and later on that day all I could do was sit and cringe when I saw she was cooking her dinner in the very same saucepan!!!! ;-)
So anywhere was I!? Saturday night, we got ready, had some goon and made our way over to cheeky monkeys to meet the rest of the gang.I must warn you that the content of the next few paragraphs may not be suitable for the likes of my relatives.Read if you must but you have been warned…………

As soon as we walked in a competition was underway to be the first person to find the US lag , take a photo and run to the host. What were the chances of It being right above me and with my camera never far away I quickly took a photo and legged it over!! Woo hoo! First jug of beer won!!
Before I had a chance to sample my winnings the next competition was underway. This one was for ladiesonly - you had to remove your bra and throw it over your head and get it to land on the bull' s horns which was attached to the wall.I was straight up there and after ten knackering minutes of throwing my bra, finding in on the floor and throwing it again I won!! Woo hoo!! Second jug of beer won!!
Next competition was easy enough. We had an entire song to get together as many 20c pieces and whoever presented the host with the most won!! By this time most of the bar was enjoying their $2 dollar dinners, yes that's right, we got burgers and chips for a quid!!! I loved this place! Therefore we were the only entrants and could have won with just 20c however we wanted to secure our win and so handed over $4.40!! Another jug of beer won and somehow Marie managed to wangle another one from the bar!!
We enjoyed our dinners, had a singsong and also made the most of $2 glasses of champagne which we decided to mix with the jugs of beers! Why not hey!?!
The next competition involved making paper aero planes, and seeing who's would go the furthest. We had about five from our little gang and Naz's plane was joint first at one point. My delight quickly turned to horror when the host went to read out the name on the plane.Naz hadn't written his name on his plane, on no, he thought it would be funny to instead write' Michelle with the big nipples!!'Of course the host read this out and despite the whole bar chanting for me to get my boobs out I resisted the peer pressure!!
Unfortunately from this point on our luck seemed to run out, we didn't win any other competitions and I was particularly gutted about this seeing as for the final competition of the night which required two guys and two girls the gang insisted I get up on the stage!!!!!!!! The prize up for grabs was a three day two night Frazer Island Trip which usually costs about $300! Well worth entering and giving it a go!
It was girls vs boys! Firstly we were each presented with a cup full of various shots and raw eggs!! I had one sip and decided there was no way I was downing it, by time I had reached this decision the guys had necked theirs so already it was 1-0 to the boys!
Next we had to burst three balloons by pretending to have sex in 3 different positions and using only our groin areas to burst the balloons!! We were on the second position of doggie style when the boys finished!! 2-0 to the boys!
The final task and most humiliating was having to give a one minute lap dance to a Israeli bar tender!! The guys went first and gave a great performance!! I was dying for a wee at this point and asked if I could wee on him for extra points but I was told no!!! I thought guys liked that kind of thing!?!!! Anyway, us girls gave it a good go and I launched myself on him, and snogged his face off!Sadly, this wasn't enough to win us the competition so I returned to the gang and we enjoyed some dancing on tables and face licking!!
I returned back to the apartment wasted and it was soooooooo hot in our room that I decided to kip on the sofa!! Not long after I had just got comfy Mairi and Naz burst in and then proceeded to have very loud sex in the bathroom for about two hours!! They then retreated to the bedroom and Sophie being on the bunk above thought Byron bay had been hit by an earthquake when she awoke to the bed shaking!!! (Can't stop grinning as I write this!!!) Was very very funny!! The next morning Naz had failed to cover up his manhood hence how we know he is very well endowed!! ;-)

That was without doubt the craziest night we've had the whole week, infact I would go as far to say it was the craziest one my whole trip! It was like being in Magaluf for Pete's sake!!
We've had a couple of DVD nights at the apartment, kiss kiss, bang bang was a great movie. The notebook made me cry from beginning to end but was a really sweet film!! We also went to Nimbin for a day tour which is Australia's Amsterdam. The bus driver Jim has been doing the tour for fifteen years and was an absolute legend. We grabbed some beers for the drive, and when we arrived in Nimbin, we were offered cookies all the way along the street. I was so adamant I was just going to stick on the booze (due to how I freaked out I felt when I tried pot in a rolo yoghurtyears ago with Dan T, hey Dan do you remember that!?! ) but everyone else was giving them a go so Leane and I went halves on one! We were told just to eat half and wait a couple of hours as it takes a while to hit you.
A couple of hours later and I just felt really really tired!! Alex ate two cookies and felt stoned for about twenty minutes but other than thatnone of us were really affected by them!! Probably a good thing, nethetheless we stopped for munchies on the way back and there were two huge huntsman spiders in the outdoor dunny!! They were horrible! The first spiders I've seen though since I gotto Oz!
What else have we been up to…. We've had a couple of days on the beach, done some shopping, the shops here are real cute! I've met up with Terri and Christina, the chicks from Tasmania, they are also going to Surfer's today which is cool. The welsh gals from the last tour were also out last night and I've met a cool chick called Vicky who is also traveling on her own up the east coast.
Our lovely group has slowly got smaller over the course of the week as people have begun going up the east coast. All that is left today is Alex, Elliot, Sophie, Allie, Nazand myself. All of us but Allie are traveling to Surfer's together today. Its been a great week here in Byron bay, for anyone coming to Australia in the future you have to come here!! Well, that's all for now folks… until next time take care of yourself and each other xxxxxx
