Weekends are free at Camps- so today we went to Mindo, which is about an hour away, still part of the Cloud Forest. Mindo is a cute little town- exactly how I imagined a typical Ecuadorian town to look. The school is very small, with little in the class rooms but the basics. Luckily the children were really accommodating. Up early for a tour of Quito today. Paola took us around the Old Town, which is the most beautiful part of the city. We visited The Basilica, climbing right up to the highest tower. The altitude sickness hit me as soon as i landed. At 2,800 metres Quito is the highest capital city in the world. I soon felt better once I got through immigration and was greeted by Paola- our tour coordinator whilst in Quito.
