We caught a sleeper train to Dong Hoi at 7:30pm and arrived in Dong Hoi at 7:45am. It was a pretty good sleep. Once Shawn found us a cheap cab we got to the hotel and met two other couples that wanted to go to the Phong Nha caves as well. So luckily having the extra people reduced the price. The caves were awesome and the people we met were really great. Marc-Andre and Chleo were from Montreal and Marren and Martin were from Holland.
After the caves we came back and rented a scooter to check out the town. The traffic here is really minimal so we felt pretty safe. Found a side of the road Pho place and got giggled at the entire time. I don't think the locals here are all that used to seeing foreigners!
The hotel was awesome and super cheap. $15 per night for a huge room with vaulted ceilings, a nice bathroom and free breakfast. Can't complain on the lodgings front. So it's our last afternoon before we head to Hue. After taking the scooter out for one last spin we're heading to the train station. One quick pointer for those of our "avid" readers who might travel...mark your passport with some sort of unique mark you will recognize. It will go a long way in preventing passport mix ups! With that said, it's off to a new town along our Asian adventure!
