It has been a busy few days. We have made our way from Nice to the Cinque Terre to Venice to Florence. Our stay in Vernazza in the Cinque Terre was amazing. After we climbed the 300+ steps to our accommodation, we were greeted with the most incredible ocean and town views and a north wind that just blew and blew. The town is the size of a postage stamp but was filled with great eating and drinking establishments. The this was one of those quaint little Italian villages that has the coloured terrace houses, a small harbour and incredibly friendly people. We observed a funeral shortly after arriving. The whole town stopped, closed shops and mourned as the funeral procession passed and it makes me wonder when I pass, would a whole town stop for me.
Leaving the Cinque Terre we headed for Venezia. Just four train changes and €120 is all it took, however Venice was incredible. It's on our list of places to go back to. We decided on arrival to skip the whole vaporetto queue and take a water taxi, it again wasn't cheap but certainly was the best way to get to our hotel as we were dropped straight at the water entry. I went crazy with the camera as we motored around and will share pics on our return. We both agree that getting lost on Venice's streets could be a lot of fun as the architecture is jaw dropping. That combined with amazing gardens all in the middle of the water.
We arrived in Florence today and have already been to the markets where we both picked up little treats for ourselves. I have a new leather coat and Heidi a new handbag. We walked away after that ad it could be very easy to lose yourself in the quality and style on offer.
