He says: We decided to have a beach days in Palma, a large island off the coast of Spain. After lazing around and having breakfast in bed, we got a taxi to take us to the beach, which was a short 20 minute drive away.
We grabbed a bite to eat at a local seaside cafe. I had a margarita pizza that was more than twice the price and half as good as the pizzas in Italy. Shauna and I both enjoyed strawberry daiquiris that were 90 per cent rum, and only 10 per cent fruit. It was a perfect drink in the hot 35 degree weather.
One of the big perks of the second cruise is that they allow you to bring your own wine onboard. Not only is this much easier on the pocketbook (I don't actually carry a pocketbook), but it has also enabled us to buy wine from every country we've visited. Spain was no different. We headed to a corner store and bought six bottles for 50 Euro. (A quick note to anyone thinking of buying Spanish wine...don't bother. It all tasted like rubbing alcohol. Three of the bottles were undrinkable...)
I also bought some 90 cent Heineken's for the beach. They were actually cheaper than water or Coke.
Europe is known for it's tradition of topless sunbathing, and Palma definitely had it's fair share taking part. It's funny because after the first five minutes, it becomes completely normal and nobody pays attention. I even saw a few men who could have used some extra support...
We spent the next few hours taking turns going in and out of the water. The sand and the temperature were perfect. It was great!
