Hi everyone. I write this from the garden of our posh hotel (too posh for travelers). The sun is shining and they're playing What a wonderful world - Louis Armstrong. By my calculations, most of you will be getting up for work. So even though a spider has just crawled into my bag (and i cant find it) and we have a 9 hour overnight bus journey tonight, i wont complain!!
Our last day in Bangkok was spent at Siam square which is the new town part of bangkok. We could have been in any european city here as everything was so modern and they had many of the brands we have back home. We then went to lumphini park and enjoyed getting away from the chaos. There wasnt much to do so we were chuffed to find a play area. We soon got told off for being on the swings though by a park ranger! That night we headed out to khao San rd with two english lads we met at our hostel to watch the england match. (There's your mention boys!) We got prime position seats in a bar and sat back and enjoyed the game. The atmosphere was really good and after the match we sampled one of Thailands famous buckets. God knows what's in them but they are like rocket fuel! Unfortunately we had a bus to catch the next morning at 7 am to siem reap. I woke up at about half 6 and had to ring the company to tell them we couldnt make it that day. There was no way we wanted to be on a bus all day. Also we needed our wits about us for the boarder crossing as we'd heard it was scam central! They arranged to pick us up the next day at no extra cost which was great.
The boarder crossing did turn out to be a massive scam. There were about 10 of us on the bus and we'd all paid different amounts. Of course we had paid the most! I think we have mug written across our foreheads! We got across the boarder without too many incidents and were then told the bus taking us to siem reap was only in 3 hours. There was no way we were waiting that long in the hot sun after hours on a bus already, so we had to pay for a taxi. Only $10 each so not too bad. Other people on the bus had a taxi included in the price they paid, plus a night in a hostel! So annoying, but we got here in the end.
Siem Reap is a welcome change from Bangkok. Its so much prettier and just seems much cleaner. This means we've been much more adventurous with our food. Bangkok made us completely lose our appetites, which most of you will know is not like me!!
Our first evening here we went to Angkor Wat which is the largest religious building in the world and built around a thousand years ago. We saw the sun set and it was really beautiful. We then got up at 4.30 am the nect morning to go back for sun rise. It was totally worth it as it meant we could look around the temples before the crowds arrived and before it got too hot. We then came back to our hostel and slept for about 3 hours before heading out to the main street (named Pub Street) to get something to eat and watch the England match. I wont say anything about it other than what a massive disappointment. We sat with some Scottish lads who were actually cheering for england which was quite cool. They were actually gutted when we went out!
Today we went to the national museam which was full of sculptures found in the Angkor temples. We learnt quite a lot about what we'd seen the previous day as well which was nice.
So we're off to Sihanoukville in a few hours. We've booked into a really lively hostel as its been really hard to make freinds here its so quiet! Think we've looked desperate at times latching onto anyone we can! Sihanoukville is on the coast so we're hoping we'll finally get a tan. My legs are whiter than when i left if thats possible.
Thats all for now. Keep in touch everyone, its nice to hear whats going on back home. Pictures to follow

Paul D bit frustrating with the scams and appearing to be the one most ripped off. You'll get the swing of it when you start talking to others and just start asking for more stuff and be aggressive, well assertive, with them when you appear to be getting a bum deal...they'll cave in! although, it is all part of the experience, and as I told you, I have had my occassions with MUG plastered on my head too.....manicures/pedicures...the other times not being things I will mention on an open blog with family watching ;-)
