We left Los Angeles on Sunday evening and landed on Raratonga in the Cook Islands at 7am on Monday morning (7th November). When we got through customs it was around 7.30 in the morning and the tempariture was in the high 70's.
The first day on the island we did the cross island walk with 3 others we met at the hoste, they was a Welsh guy (Dewi), an Irish guy (Paddy) and an American named Taylor. The walk goes from north to south right over the top of the mountians in the middle of the island. We had to make our way through the jungle in around 100% humidity, it was hard going but really enjoyable and different to any other walking I've done.
Spent the week on the island just relaxing, snorteling and looking around. We both got sunburned twice, the first time for not being carefull, but the second time everyone we were with got sunburned even though we all had suncream on. The locals said that the ozone layer is thinner in this part of the world so people get burned quicker, don't know if thats correct but everyone definately got burned.
After a nice relaxing week on Raratonga we left late Sunday evening heading to New Zealand, arriving there the early hours of Tuesday morning.
