11:00 AM
Hola Amigos! Now this is the middle of the day entry, but I have a free hour and I can't just control my excitement today... Two things I wanted to do since long time, are now checked off my list!! Bungee Jump and a sling shot!!
So, a long story short, I read about the bungee spot in Cusco long back and just had their contact details in my notes. Yesterday after arriving here, I just gave a call to find out whether there are any free slots this morning as I had some free time before I go for city tour this afternoon. I came to know that there are slots available and I need to reach to their office at 8:30 AM and see the office staff in person for the formalities. I was like, YESS Let's do it!!!
I was at their office, which is also at the central square, not far from my hotel, and that person immediately arranged for a transport to the jump site, the "Actionvalley". Few miles outside the city, surrounded by small hills, they have the setup for the bungee and other fun stuff. A small dirt road leads to the base camp. After filling up the necessary documents stating 'I understand the risk and I agree to blah blah...' I thought I was all set... but I was not. They asked me to do all sorts of stretching and stuff and then push ups, pull ups and what not...
Feeling energetic, now I was ready, I wore the harness, Me and an instructor, we boarded a lift that took us 122 Meters above the ground. The lift is suspended in the center of the valley, supported from four hilltops around. This jump is considered to be the highest in South America. All set and ready, light clouds around, the door opened and JUMP... free fall for several seconds... WOW, I think I forgot to scream, I always do... Complete weightlessness and suddenly first jerk, stronger than expected... Again bounce up and fall back... same repeats for few more times and slowly coming to rest... woohoo... Another item checked off!!
Now I understood why all that exercise was required prior to the jump, it relaxes all your body muscles so that they can take that jerk and bounce. Now we walked to catapult launch pad. The instructor pulled the elastic rope with machine and created enough tension which could launch me into the sky, then he gave me another harness, and attached the other end of stretched rope to it. 1...2...3... and shoot, I was in the air flying with rocket velocity, against the gravity and sudden jerk, pull back to earth, swinging to other end now and so on... now this was freaking awesome... I never imagined that slingshot will be something like this. Absolutely enjoyed!!
Just wanted to quickly write the experience, now I'll take a quick bite, and get ready to explore the city... I also need to move to another hotel, booked by a group with whom I'm going to Machu Picchu tomorrow. Let's see how that turns out to be... alrighty, brb...
