A couple days ago, we took a hydra foil boat into Vienna, Austria on the Danube River. A hydra foil is a boat with wings at the bottom, which makes the boat lift out of the water and glide on its wings. It is actually a very smooth ride and it is fast too. On our ride, we had to go through two enormous locks - like the Panama Canal. When we got to Austria, we checked into our hotel and I found my Godfather, Greg Flowers. I barely get to see him because he lives in Germany. He has been to Vienna a couple times' before.
Next, we went down through the subway, to get to a restaurant to celebrate Greg's birthday. We realized that the subway areas are malls, filled with shopping & restaurants. We arrived at our restaurant, in the former palace gardens and had a good meal.
The next day, we went and watched the Lipizzaner stallion training. It was so boring, because there was symphony orchestra music playing and the horses were just walking around in circles! We now have a saying when a day was boring, "that was a Lipizzaner day".
Then, the next day, we went to the local Schwim Bade (swim park), but this one had; a slide, a wave machine, and a few kiddy pools. It was really cool! We would grab a tube, go down the slide and come flying out! That was all for the day, because we were so tired after that!
The last day of Greg being here, we went to Mozart's home. At his home, we learned fascinating facts about Mozart, such as the fact that he was a big gambler, and saw cool examples of operas he wrote - such as Don Giovanni. We also learned about, what life was like for him, as a young composer. That afternoon, Greg left and we decided to go see a movie. So that night, we went to a small local theater and saw "Indiana Jones". The next day, we took a train to
Prague, Czechoslovakia.
