OZ Trip Planner
Hello Peeps,
Haven't updated this site in ages...sorry about that. Been having too much fun & been very busy travelling somewhere new everyday.
Well, let's see. I'm in Queensland now...it's the party state of Australia or also called the Sunshine State (like FL). We've had some crappy weather in the Sunshine state though...been rainy for the past couple of days and also on my sailing trip, which leaves today. Hopefully, it will clear up by the time we are on the ocean. I'm not too fond of sailing in rough seas.
Okay, for those who haven't been getting any emails from me...here's how the past couple of weeks have gone by:
I travelled up the east coast of OZ from Sydney to Byron Bay through surf camp. The best week thus far in Oz for me. Got to surf some amazing beaches (I can stand...Yippee), see some dolphins, party every night, and be a beach bum. Met some great people there. About 30 people in our surf camp, we travelled in a huge coach together.
Byron Bay is an amazing little town. Very much embodying the Australian way of life: Surf, sun, Party.
I hung out with two guys and a girl from surf camp. We travelled together for a bit...about two weeks.
From Byron, I went to Surfer's Paradise...that's a wanna be Florida. They've got theme parks, clubs, shopping, etc. Only spent 3 days there. Did a club crawl tour, which is tour of like 5 clubs. Hilarious...good times though. Also did some shopping, had to buy a new backpack. My Wal-mart luggage broke...go figure. So, Surfer's was a good place for that. Thankfully, it didn't break in one of those small towns that I'm in now. I would not be able to find anything.
Anyways, after Surfer's is where the good fun begins.
I took a bus to Rainbow Beach...a couple hours away. I did a camping/4wd trip in Fraser Island. Amazing. Fraser is the world's biggest sand island. It's pretty isolated. Got some great pics. Camping was pretty primitive. So, I loved it. You can't swim in the beaches there...they are shark & jellyfish infested. We only did our dishes in the sea. Hmm...sandy steaks & coffee. The lakes in Fraser were amazing. A little paradise. The waters are so clean & fresh. It was the best shower ever. The sands are so soft & white...you can scrub yourself pretty clean. Like the stuff you buy at the Body Shoppe...exfoliating. It was the only place to shower for us and it felt amazing.
4WD on the island was a great deal fun too. Quite a challenge sometimes, but a great time driving through creeks, sand, rocks, etc. The whole experience was something pretty cool, getting thrown together with 9 other strangers in a 4wd and being told to camp out on an isolated island. Great team bonding excerise & met some great friends.
Okay, so that was Fraser. After Fraser, I took the night bus out to Airlie Beach for my Whitsunday sailing adventure. 30 strangers on a big sail boat in the Whisundays. Should be good fun. Leaving today, so I'll keep you posted on how that went.
Btw I have plenty of pics, but won't get to put them out till I'm back home. In the meantime, if you wanna see some of these places I've been to, just Google the names. You'll find some amazing pics, especially Whisundays, Fraser Island, Wineglass Bay, etc.
Okay, take care everyone.
I will be back in the States around the 15-20 of April. Haven't booked the flight back yet. I might want to explore the West coast a bit before heading back to Atlanta. So, if anyone is up for it, maybe we can drive up from LA to Seattle/Vancouver. Lemme know. Should be a fun roadtrip.
