On Saturday, 26 November, we took a day trip to Punta del Este. Like the Gold Coast, a town that has mostly empty Apartment towers, but around Christmas explodes to become a city of half a million people.

This town is officially the border between the Rio de la Plata bay and the Atlantic and in Punta del Este it has two major beaches, one on the bay side, no waves, less salt, and some sediment in the water from the river, just next to it on the ocean side, proper surf waves, and the water is much clearer.

Great day trip and luckily we did not go on the next day, as that is when the town hosts an Ironman triathlon race which would have made it difficult to move around.
