My last stop before Auckland was Mount Maunganui. Unfortunately our bus got there at about 4.30pm and I was going to leave the next morning not giving me much time to see the place.

Mount Maunganui is mainly known for its beach and surfers paradise. Luckily the sun was still high enough to allow me to enjoy the stretch of white beach. People were learning to kite board and it was fun to watch them for a while, whilst soaking up some late afternoon rays.

Originally I had not thought much of the town as I wandered through it, but that changed later on. I had bumped into someone I had travelled with back up to Christchurch on the bus and he came over for a drink. We wandered into the town and I realised it did actually appear quite nice and modern. It was not very busy but I could imagine in high season it must have quite a buzz about it.

There is not much else really to say. Next stop Auckland- my final destination in New Zealand.
