19th - 23rd MayNoosa HeadsWe started the day in Harvey Bay by going to a Shark museum. It was a real eye opener. The man who ran this museum REALLY didn't like sharks."They're killers! So, we should kill them all!!!". (Not my words!).The journey to Noosa Heads wasn't long for a change. It was only about two and a half hours. We were very excited to be reaching this point as this was where we would be meeting up with Shaz and Paul, friends of our who also emigrated to Oz back in November last year.It was also to be the last stop on our travels and we were able to relax a little.Unfortunately we checked into a caravan site which ended up being half and hour drive from where Shaz and Paul lived, but on the up side, at least we saw more of the area.We were actually really impressed with the area I have to say.It was really beautiful and probably the nicest place to live out of all the areas we visited in Australia. It's smallish and a bit posh and swanky with lovely and oh so expensive eateries lining the bay and shops like Hugo Boss and Cartier on the main street. We could see why it had turned into an expensive area. The river and bays were spectacular to look at.There were different types of beaches along the coast line, including quiet ones and surf ones. The area had also easy access to the Gold Coast and the big city of Brisbane and let's face it … civilization! The down side of living here is that the houses lining the river bay cost at least £3.5million or so.So we only bought two!Anymore would be pushing it!We met up with Shaz and Paul that night in a little café on Hastings st.It was so great to see them again. They looked so well and Australia was obviously agreeing with them. The following day we nabbed Shaz and took her with us to Australia Zoo. (The late Steve Irwin's zoo).It was a good day, Niels, Shaz and I (Sue-Ellen) had done Australia Zoo before, but Mark and Sarah had never been. Even second time round it was loads of fun, especially as it's more of an interactive experience compared to any other zoo.You get to stroke, pet and handle the animals apart from the tigers which I was especially gutted about! The following two days Niels and I had a couple of surfing lessons.I can finally stand(ish)!!! And we lazed around for a few hours on the beach. On the 22nd it was our 4th wedding anniversary and we all (Apart from Paul, who had to work) spent an afternoon on a river boat with champagne in our hands, perusing future mansions we may wish to buy on the river bay. And in the evening we all went to celebrate the anniversary with a meal at a Thai restaurant. It was quite a sad event as it was our final evening with Shaz and Paul (who I miss already!).The following day we packed up our campers and headed off on the short trip to Brisbane to catch the flight home.Sad saying goodbye to Mark and Sarah too. LSad to be leaving Australia too. Double L!P.S. Niels lost his new Oakley glasses on the final day (again!) and both our hats got stolen at the airport!!! Gutted! L
