Siem Reap, Cambodia - February 4, 2018
We caught the sunrise at Angkor Wat! It was magnificent. Hundreds and hundreds of tourist and locals alike woke up early this Sunday morning to witness on of God's fantastic spectacles. Vendors were out already too, selling coffee, sandwiches, cakes and ice cream! The kids were on sight too pestering tourists to buy flutes, postcards and magnets. We met our driver at 5:15 and by 6 o'clock we were seated on the wall of the moat on the west side of the temple. We fiddled with our cameras and tried to figure out the best way of capturing the event. We looked at the sky and speculated whether the air would be too cloudy or hazy to have a good event. We visited with other people waiting there in the dawn. The sky began to turn pale pink, and then at 6:30, right on time, a brilliant sliver of red began to show. It was something!!! We took picture after picture, some capturing the clouds and some capturing the reflection of the temple and the sunrise on the moat.
I may not have the very best photos but I had a spectacular time watching this beautiful Cambodian sunrise.
We had a wonderful breakfast and then begged off on more activities today . . . a afternoon of relaxing at that beautiful hotel infinity pool enticed us.
Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped at the Central Market -- best I've seen yet. We shopped, made a few purchases and ended the morning on a high note.
Guess how I spent the afternoon . . . writing blog updates in a lounge chair in the sun by the pool!!! I hope you don't feel overloaded when I finally get them all posted.
Tomorrow is travel day. We are flying to Luang Prabang, Laos where we expect to see caves, possibly more temples and waterfalls!
