Raja,
I am soooo sorry that I have totally neglected to send you this information...
I think South Africa is next as you have just reached Ghana! How exciting and wonderful you look :)
I miss you, my friend!
Okay....to do's in and around Cape Town:
1. Visit Table Mountain...it might be hard to get to...if the weather is crappy, but TRY...it is the most tranquil place...take a book, your camera, and journal...it is sooo peaceful and you get to see all of Cape Town from the top....
2. If you have a chance, take a friend and do a hike up Lion's Head....majestic and beautiful! It will take 2 hours up and down total...it is really worth it! You can see stunning views of Cape Town, Table Mountain...it's beautiful, just spectacular.
3. If you get 1 day or so...go to Cape Point. It is the tip of the continent...it's where oceans come together...beautiful views along the way...stop at Boulder...you will see this amazing penguin colony...
4. If you can, go to Stellenbosch, Franschoek,...it's a wine lands tour...a couple of hours away....cute quaint town...you will need half a day or so...
5. Not too far away, you NEED TO go to Kirstenbosch...it's a beautiful botanical garden, 1/2 day is plenty...many people don't know about it, it's a true wonder to walk around see plants, tree, animals, it will give you so much joy and peace
6. Now, of course there is the Victoria Wharf...everyone goes there...you have a chance to go to Robben Island...do it...you can see up front and live Mandela's cell and history in action...at the very least there is a bookstore on Victoria Wharf if you don't make the actual ferry trip across to the island...they have a little museum in there for free too!
7. The best places to shop is this big big shop...it's got two huge giraffe's outside and lots of huge scuplture outside...ask anyone they will tell you...also, many people don't know about the red barn...it is a place tucked away near the food court area...they have nice crafts in there...also, there is a craft center...it's got limited hours...it's right next to the victoria wharf area...ask around...
Enjoy! Have a Stoney's Ginger Beer on me :) (It's non-alcoholic and the best you will have ever had)
Lots of love, Pam
