Hi..

We arrived at the bus station on the outskirts of Hoi An. The weather was a little better but not the sunbathing sort. We weren't sure what direction to walk in so checked the map on the Lonely Planet and head in what we thought was the right way. We were very wrong! Some American guy called Randy who owned a book shop in Hoi An stopped us in our tracks and told us we had walked 2-3km in the wrong direction, dame it. Lucky we found a cab to drop us off in the town. He also tried to really over charge us but yet again our hardened backpacker skills came in to action and we paid the correct fair buy telling him we were going to call the tourist police, it worked but he wasn't happy (oh well).

We checked the hotels around town and found a really nice place with a lovely swimming pool and great rooms, it even had a bath! We then head out to find out where things were. Hoi An is such a lovely place. It has a protected World Heritage old town that has loads of little streets with French colonial buildings all built on top of each other, nothing like what we have seen yet, in fact it was probably the nicest place so far. It also had a river that run through it and if you followed the river it took you to the sea. Their where food markets, craft shops, tailored clothing shops everywhere and shoe makers. Oh and all the beautiful restaurants, cafes and bars, I could have spent two weeks here.

We walked to the market and Sean stopped to get me flowers. All the locals where looking at us an saying "oh lucky girl" and giggling! So I felt very special! That evening we went out and had a lovely roof top dinner, the food was great. In fact all the food we had here was lovely. We spent a lazy four days in Hoi An and was really relaxed. We hired bikes one day and cycled to the beach, it was chilly but we sat on sun beds and played a few games of pool, inside the beach club bar.

The next day was a quiet one, we booked a trip to see some ruins on the 17th and our coach to go down to Nha Trang on the 18th. The ruins where nice to see, they looked a bit like the ones in films like Indiana Jones or Tombraider. Once we had seen them we took a boat trip down the river which dropped us back at Hoi An's little port. We had a walk around and bumped into Kate and Amy again which was strange as the night before we bumped into a couple that we had meet on a bus Two weeks before in Laos! (I guess you end up following people every where you go) We went and had a few drinks and arranged to meet up for dinner that night with their friends.

On our final day we ate, drank and played pool (oh what a hectic life we lead). Our coach was going to pick us up at 6pm so we had an early dinner and walked the many little streets one last time before we said goodbye to Hoi An.
