Hi Guys
Well we only spent about 3 days in Luang Prabang (Laos) before we headed south towards Vang Vieng. Luang Prabang was completely different to Thailand due to the fact that it was ruled by the French at some point so all the buildings had a real European feel to them. Also the food was nice as the French had obviously passed on their good cooking so we enjoyed our time spent up there. We had a fair few walks around the town looking at all the buildings, local street markets and the Mekong river. Oh and of coarse plenty of beerlao, the one and only beer they produce!
In the Middle of Luang Prabang there is a high 100m+ hill with a temple that sits on top and the views where amazing, we could see the whole town surrounded by mountains and the massive Mekong river. It was also high enough to see the planes flying in practically at eye level.
We stayed in the town for the whole time apart from taking an excursion to see the the Kuang Si Waterfalls which had many turquoise blue lagoons which you could swim in, the most beautiful weve been to so far. We braved the cold water and had a quick swim and then as we got out Sean slipped on the wet clay floor and busted his toe. It was so funny he started doing the running man on the spot while trying not to drop the camera. Unfortunatly he didnt manage to stay upright and ended up swinging the camara into my face and possibly we think, braking his toe........arrrr poor boy, its all part of the travelling adventure ups and downs he he.
We managed to book a VIP coach to take us down to Vang Vieng on the 4th of Feb. It was ment to be a 6 hour slightly upper class bus, hence VIP but me and sean (still limping) ended up being squashed on the back row. There was only 5 seats at the back and they sqeezed 7 of us in, so as you can imagine it wasnt the best trip especially as two local kids kept being sick all the way...apparently the locals dont have very strong travel tummys and end up sick all the time, but as i said before its all part of the adventure! We can see the funny side now!
I am going to write the next blog now so I am upto date with everything.
Miss you all loads
