Wahoo finally we have a picture that represents somewhere i've been! So the temple you see in the picture is at Palenque which is one of the most important Mya sites in Mesoamerica....or so they say. Anyway I just returned from a day trip there.....more on that later.
So i'll pick up where I left off...the beginning of San Cristobal De Las Casas. After waiting around in the cold, unappropriately attired for 3 hours, Dan and Ricky showed up from their night bus and we went off into the town to look around. The bloody rain started about 3 but we were nackerd anyway so decided to chill in our hostel for a bit. Later in the evening we had some drinks with a couple of guys we keep seeing around then after meeting lots of new friends round the campfire we went off into town to meet one of the girls friends for their 21st.
Yesturday we went on a boat trip to the Sumidero Canyon which was pretty awesome...even saw some vultures, pellicans and crocodiles! After that I decided I hadn't made the most of my time in San Cristobal so went of with this guy Aca to take some photos and help him bargin for some indigenous handicrafts for his flat as hes just got a job near Puerto Escondido teaching english which is pretty kewl. Later Ricky, Dan and I went to this resturant called Mayumbe because we quite fancied a curry! They did everything from Greek and Thai to Indian although we had to wait about an hour for the food ...not happy. Crashed out after that hoping to get a good night sleep as yet again i am ill....but these stupid bloody t*** in my room decided to go out and get wasted with soe girls next door then sit in their room and make as much noise as possible until 4 am. I got up at quarter to bloody 6 so they are paying for it tonight!
Just got back from a mega long day visiting two waterfalls which were supposedly meant to be azure blue in colour but alas again I have come at rainy season so they were brown. Got shoved on what i thought was a bamba van at 6am and after trying to explain that ricky and dan were coming too the dude drove me off into the dark and filled the bus with a load of non english speaking Mexicans!!! So i felt pretty loserish for half of the day as well as being ill, exhausted and not being able to hear due to the altitude. But anyway things picked up and after a big fat rain storm we arrived in Palenque which was pretty impressive. Although it then decided to rain again. Was due to get back to San Cristobal at about 8 but as my luck is running at the moment we ended up along with about 100 other cars in the biggest fecking traffic jam ever, on the top of a mountain in the rain. Obviously i had no idea what was going on seen as todays lesson was in spanish but someone translated in the end that there had been an accident and we would have to wait until 2am to get through!!!!! But anyway im back now and its just about midnight so i must go sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Off into Guatemala tomorrow at 7am!
laters dudes x
