Yo,
so this is extremely late because ive been having way too much fun to write blogs which no one is reading. But now the fun has haulted so im back on the net.
Anyhoo, so Antigua....arrived from Panajachel and checked into The Black Cat hostel which is supposed to be the best and lucky me being una persona managed to grab a bed. Maybe its owning to a drop in popularity since it got hijacked by gunman and cleaned out a couple of weeks ago...but alas its all fine now. ANyway, so very glad to be amoungst young people again i met two girls as soon as i got in my room. AN english girl and an american. Ended up spending the day with them which was kewl and another australian lady who was also staying in our room. Had some traditional guatemalan cusine in a local resturant and chilled for a bit in the hostel while the bloody rain passed.
Hostel was awesome, 4 pound a night including a massive free breakfast which you could choose from a menu, mega cheap drinks and a staff of kewlio english people.
Had a walk round the market later on but it was a bit crappy and i got slightly upset when i saw a man trying to make a living by selling toothpaste and toothbrushes on a blanket on the floor. Anyway Antigua was fecking cold for the first day because its so high up and as there wasn´t much to do and it was so easy to get lost becasue all the streets look the same, i just enjoyed socialising in the hostel with all the ENGLISH people!!!!!!!
Later that night after quite a few drinks in the hostel we braved the rain to go to a bar called mocoloco or something where it was ´ladies night´(cringe) and all the drinks for girls were 3q which is like 20p. That didn´t matter i ended up not paying for 1 drink the whole night. As you can imagine...that was a good night.
Next day the girls i met the day before left to go to lake Atitlan so i booked the volcano trip for the afternoon. Decided not to waste the morning so went out and took lots of photos.....typical me. Anyway at 2pm i headed off to Volcano Pacaya, an hour and a half drive from Antigua. It was fecking spectacular!!! After a massive trek up the side of a mountain we saw the summit and the dried lava flows. I met a group of english guys whos dad is a photographer so i managed to nab a zoom lense for my SLR which pretty much allowed me to spy on you guys back home....it was that good. Someone buy me one!! So moving on....hot rocks, flames and a bit of lava flow seen through the rocks and late evening light = pretty damn kewl. Walk down in the dark....not so much.
So that was pretty much Antigua and i left early the next day for Lanquin and a bit of nature.......
