2009 Scriven Family WA Trip
3/10/09
Hi everyone
Today we went over the Rottnest Island. Rudy & Cheryl joined us for the day which was lovely. We were able to experiment a bit with wheelchair access for when Dad gets over here also. (Cheryl broke her foot a few months ago and has had a series of operations to fix it) The trip down the Swan River was just lovely and so relaxing even though the ferry was full being a saturday. We passed some huge (& expensive) homes. We also passed the Fremantle wharves and saw some big ships up close before heading out to sea. It was a little bit rough but not unbearable and no one got sick. When we arrived on the island we had a walk around then a nice buffet lunch which was included in our package deal. Then we went on a guided bus tour around the island which was great. The driver/guide was great and took us up into little coves along the way which was off the usual route. We saw whales (although in the distance) and seals and some spectacular coastline. It's a lovely little island with some great history. We caught the ferry back which leaves Rottnest at 4pm and the water was lovely and smooth the whole way back. When we got back we saw the Bell Tower from the outside only as it was closed. My camera battery went flat so I didn't even get a photograph. We got home around 6pm and as we had such a big lunch we only needed a light dinner and went to bed around 9.30pm to try and catch up on some Zzzzzzs.- comments
