We arrived back in KL for our final night in Malaysia. We were sad about leaving this country that has given us so many incredible memories, from diving in the Perhentians, drinking rain in the rainforest and the apes of Borneo. The people who live as a community, as family regardless of race, colour or religion and who made us feel so welcome in their city, town or village. The cuisine has been incredible too, from the street markets to the spotless air conditioned shopping malls, the dishes were always fresh and packed with layers of flavour with heavy Chinese and Indian influences.
Being back in KL also gave us a chance to meet up with some of the people I worked with at my last job. We met Aida and Meena in one of the Mall restaurants at Mid Valley and had a wonderful evening with them. Despite this being the first time we had met, it felt like catching up with old friends as we chatted and laughed over a superb meal.
They were so generous and gave some lovely gifts for us to remember our time in Malaysia, it made leaving KL that bit more bitter-sweet.
Off to Singapore for a few days.
