Bula Bula!! Sorry for the delay- Its Fiji Time!!!

We left San Francisco on 20th and arrived in Fiji via LA on 22nd. How strange that we never got to live the 21st February 2007!! We have been staying in a hostel called Horizon near Nadi its a minute from the beach with our own pool (and Alex you were right it is like a Greenhouse- we keep using the word lush!!)

Its quite relaxing here although its mostly couples so not much of a party atmosphere at the moment. We sat and drank Pina Coladas on the beach yesterday and tried the local Tui beer! We have also sampled the local speciality Kava (tastes like muddy water eek!).

On our second day here we headed to Nadi town it was Scorchio! Never been so sweaty- but the bus was nice as had no windows and was breezy-picked up the local school kids on the way. Nadi town was an experience it was very busy and full of shop keepers trying to lure us in even though we didnt want to! We fell for a tourist trap at one point - a Fijian guy started befriending us and we couldnt say no to looking round his shop, they dressed us in the most hideous sarongs- we tried to humour them by saying they are lovely but we already have one!

Next he began saying- as we were about to leave- "I have a gift for you in the back-" so we reluctantly followed him and brought out 2 boomerangs and began to carve our names in them! we thought how nice we must be special! And as he was finishing off he made his speech about his bread n butter which meant he wanted us to pay for them!. We rolled our eyes and tried to haggle but we couldnt say no- what a scam! After that we just wanted to go home as we were sick of the forceful shop keepers, and we had to wait an hour for the bus in the sweltering heat!

We then went to a market where the locals were shouting is it too hot for you and laughing! We looked at the stalls to buy some beads and yet again they were desperate for a sale, but we felt bad as it was their livelihoods. Some of the things they were selling were really tacky though.

We eventually found some we liked bought them and got out of there pronto!!

Were now looking forward to the beach house (celebrity love island set) for more luxury and a party atmosphere (and yes alex and mike you are famous you are on the leaflets-in all your tropicalness!!)

Niki- 30+ on feet legs and arms- we are truly diseased! ugh- were sure your not jealous of that bit!!
