That morning Richard (Game ranger) offered for us to go on a short walk back to the lodge rather than drive back, which we were all keen to do. Used to game drives by now, it seemed like no big deal. We all hop out of the truck and Alston the tracker drives away. Richard has his rifle and turns stern "RIGHT - NOW - here are the rules. NO ONE walks in front of my rifle. If we encounter an animal listen to what I say..." And I think we all thought...ohhhhh, right, there are lions here. Anyway all we saw was this grasshopper. But I don't like insects with discernable hair/skin/exoskeleton...
