So 55 destinations, 79 Beds, 14 flights, 10 sim cards, 32 000 Miles, 100000 good times, 1000000 great memories and we are back home.
We landedback in England; It was emotional at the airport to be greeted by our families but soon after it was quickly back to normal- which was actually a really nice feeling. Nothing seemed to have changed except Annie and Johnny had decorated and Sheila had moved- AGAIN!! So Vikki had better remember which house to go to when coming home drunk from Newcastle.
We both went our separate ways from the airport which felt really strange after being virtually joined at the hip for the last eight months. We had been sitting in Heathrow airport earlier laughing our head off about something- which we both agreed was a good thing to still be doing after spending so much time together. But I can honestly say I couldn't think of anyone better to have travelled with. The four of us who started this adventure all had a lot to offer each other and we have all got so many good memories to look back on.
We quickly got back into the swing of things as I went to the pub with Johnny Morrall and Vik was hard core and went down (to- if not a Stokey) Newcastle for the night! We both then met up again for a lovely night with the girls for an Italian meal; thank goodness Jayne didn't stick with her original idea of a Thai meal! After the Sunday club outing the weeks that followed have all become a bit of a blur, as we both met up with different friends and family and they all twisted our arms and forced us to drink wine- ummmm wine, our long lost beloved friend wine- pure nectar esp. when accompanied with extra mature cheddar. Everyone else we met on our travels always said they missed hot baths but ours was definitely wine and cheese!
The last few weeks have gone so fast. It's been lovely to see everyone again but it was finally dawning on us that the trip was over and that we weren't in Stoke for a stop off before going to the next country. Reality of being back home was kicking in, no longer eating out three times a day and paying fifty pence for a meal, no more lying on sunny beaches and visiting fantastic temples. Oh no, from now on it was back to rain, cold, working 9-5, hearing about the credit crunch every five minutes, mortgage rates, heating bills- back to reality!
But as a saving grace there were a few things to perk us up and pull ourselves out of our depression such as oatcakes, mums home cooked food, full English breakfasts, the sentinel, me and mar lady, the castle mona, stoke being in the premier ship- See who needs Thailand!
So we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that left messages on the blog, it was a really good way of keeping in touch with everyone and it was always lovely to see your messages. Thank you for not forgetting us, we missed you all and it really is brilliant to see everyone again!
We will soon be getting this blog printed into a book , so we will be boring you allwith it! It will be so good to look at and remind us that we did actually do it and it wasn't all a dream!
