Next stop on the east coast was Airlie beach. We had a free nights accommodation here with our Whitsundays trip. Spent some time exploring the beach and lagoon. Couldn't swim in the sea due to the stingers again so we just swam in the lagoon.
Headed off early on our Whitsundays trip. Had to take our shoes off before we got on the boat then that was the last we saw of them. The boat was a sailing boat that had won the sailing race from Hobart to Sydney. Whitsundays is made up of around 70 islands and is a national park meaning we couldn't even take a shell from any of the islands. They were pretty strict on it. Our first day we spent snorkelling off a little island, we then all for a free dive. Ash went off in a different group again as he is certified. He wasn't very impressed with his dive said it was really rushed and the guy didn't care. My dive was pretty much the same I still enjoyed it though and I'm getting used to the feeling of diving now. Again saw lots of nemos and sting rays. We all had to wear wet suits in the sea though due to jelly fish. Once back on the boat we took the boat sailing. We had to move all our stuff to one side of the boat as when sailing the boat tipped up on its side, we had to hold on tight.
All our meals were cooked for us which was nice. We reached a quiet spot by an island and put the anchor down to spend the night here. Spent the evening sitting up on the deck getting to know everyone and playing a few games. The sunset was awesome from the boat.
The following day it was so choppy, most people had sea sickness so I just sat on top until I could get off the boat again. We headed to the famous Whitehaven beach. It has the purest sand 98% silica. Has to be the softest sand I have ever walked on. Boats aren't allowed to go to this beach so we got dropped off around the other side and walked across the island. Pretty much paradise here. Quite nice being off the boat, it's quite claustrophobic under the deck. After this we sailed to another spot to do more diving and snorkelling. The diving was much better this time, spent a good 40 mins under water and went down to around 12m. I went with the certified divers too.
That evening we docked near a small sand island and had an explore here. Anything to be off the boat for a bit. I'm enjoying it but it's quite a small space to be with 30 other people. Another fun evening of games, Ashs favourite would you rather was rather amusing.
Our last day today, it has to be my favourite. We spent the morning swimming with giant turtles. Saw around 7, and just swam alongside them, we even got to touch them. It was the best experience ever. Sadly our camera had died :(. After lunch we sailed back to Airlie Beach.
Off for a night bus to Agnes Water.
