The 'VIP' night bus to Phnom Penh has nothing VIP about it. No aircon, blankets, toilet or water as advertised and took 11hours rather than 7. It consisted of plastic mats for u to lie on, ash managed to sleep but I had 0 sleep. No toilets also meant random stops in the Cambodian countryside in the pitch black! Not an experience i will do again in a hurry!
Phnom Penh was crazy, traffic is mental! Stayed here for 3 nights.
Spent our time sight seeing, visited the Killing Fields where Cambodians were executed as part of the Khmer Rouge regime. Pol Pot wanted to create a dictatorship and arrested many Cambodians for reasons they did not know.
They were taken to the S-21 prison and here endured endless torture to try and get them to confess, they ended up confessing to things they had not done.
Looking around the to torture chambers was horrendous.
Visited the Russian market, ash nearly threw up due to the smell of fish/ raw meat (flies everywhere). Required lots of haggling here, which i am not very good at! Ash purchased some 'Ray Bans' for $2 instead of $4 which required some good haggling tactics, walk away and they then agree to your price!
We also visited the Royal Palace, the buildings were incredible. Spent evenings wandering around the town and river. Saw lots of exercise classes in the parks and by the river which was cool. Could of spent our whole time riding around in a tuk tuk it's so much fun!
