Hi everyone!!
It seems like so long ago since I last wrote! Since then we have been to Singpore (about 3 weeks ago) and we were there for 3 full days. We loved Singapore and had a great time. We were staying on a street with a massive market and two large temples, where worshipers would spill out onto the street, so it was quite atmosperic! We had a look at the famous Raffles hotel and some of the other interesting land marks. On our second day, we took a trip on the MRT (like the undergrond, but much much nicer) to Chinatown. It was quite manic and very hot, but a fun place to visit with beautiful temples. At one point we got so hot, we went into this realy expensive jewellers to get out of the heat and under some air conditioning! I don't know what the staff must have thought of us, prentend browsing in scummy backpacker clothes! Onthe morning of our final day, we took a trip on the Singapore Flyer (just like the London Eye but slightly bigger). We had some great views of the city and could even see to Malaysia and Indonesia! In the afternoon, we took an amphibious duck tour. It meant that we could do some sightseeing on the river as well as around the city.
Our next stop was Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We both found ourselves to be a little disapointed with this destination, but still did some fun things. We had a look around a few of the markets, where Kayleigh did some haggeling. We also took a trip out to see the Petronas towers (now the tallest twin towers in the world), which were very impressive. Finally we went to the worlds largest walk through bird park. It was a nice day out, but the best part was when all these wild monkeys broke into the park. They were very cheeky and seemed to have a lot of fun over at the childrens play area, going down the slides!!
From Malaysia, made our way to Phuket, Thailand (where I am writing this from). We have been here for just over a week and have had a fantastic time! We have been able to afford a nice hotel, which has been a real luxury!! Aside from spending time relaxing by the swimming pools, we also took a trip to the Phi Phi islands. It was such an amazing day. We took off on a speed boat to Maya Bay (the film location for The Beach). It was a stunning place even though there were lots and lots of other tourists there. Our next stop was Monkey Beach, where we were able to hand feed wild monkeys with peanuts! One of them swung down from the trees and stole a glass of coke from someone. We were even lucky enough to see a baby clinging to its mother!! We did some snorkelling there and also at our final stop. It was amazing there were so many fish, we also got a glimpse of some clown fish and some sea urchins. Our tour guide gave us some banana to feed to them. They absolutely loved it, and ate it straight from our hands! The whole thing was just brilliant.
We are leaving in few hours to head to Bangkok, which I am really looking forward to. I expect it will be a bit of a change from island life though. We will be in Bangkok for about 4 days and then to our final stop, Hong Kong for the same amount of time.
I hope you are all well, and will see you all very soon. x
Ps. This is the second time I have written this blog, as the first time I wrote it out, I was just about to send it, when all the power in the hotel went out!! Noooooooooooooooo.
