Hi everyone!!
Although I am actually writing from Brisbane, I have used a picture of Sydney harbour as I haven't even told you about that yet!
We spent about a week in Sydney and it was fantastic!! The city is absolutley beautiful. Kayleigh did the harbour bridge climb!! Which ofcourse I did not. We went to the botanical gardens which are so pretty, and have loads of wild cockatoo's and massive fruit bats. Not to mention the scary looking spiders!
We took a train to the Katoomba, where you can see the blue mountains and the three sisters rock formation. It was a spectacular view!
From the quay in the harbour we took a ferry ride over to Toronga zoo, which was a great day out! The girrafes have the best view of the city! The ferry also takes you to Manly and Bondi beaches! Both were gorgeous! I couldn't quite believe I was actually sitting on Bondi beach!! I made Kayleigh some massive sand feet over the top of her real ones, they were so funny, and some people came over and took photos of us!!
From Sydney we took a flight over to Melbourne, where we also spent about a week. Our hostel was really nice and had a cute little cat called Keith!
We visited the Queen Victoria Market for a few bargains, and rode the free city circle tram quite a lot. We also took a trip on the great ocean rode. It was a great day but quite long too. We had a brilliant tour guide (Chris), he was quite eccentric, and was so determined to get us the best views, that he nearly drove us off a cliff so we could see a wild koala! A few of the stops we made were; Bells Beach, the lighthouse from the tv show Around the Twist, the Twelve Apostles, and London Bridge!
We also took the Neighbours tour. It turned into a bit of a nightmare, as our tour guide overslept and turned up over and hour late, without a word of apology. Kayleigh stormed in and complained, managing to get us two souvenier books worth $25 each for free! We did meet the actress who plays Susan Kennedy and visited the street where it is filmed. It is a real street with people living in those houses!
On our last day as the weather was really good, we went to St. Kilda, which is a nice seaside place just out of the city.
As I said we are now in Brisbane, after a death defying flight from Melbourne. It wasn't that bad, just some scary turbulance! We are hoping to visit lone pine koala sanctuary for a cuddle and a picture with one.
We will be taking the greyhound bus now, working our way up the east coast. Our next stop is Noosa, where we will be able to visit Australia Zoo. Can't wait!
I'll write again soon.
