An early arrival of 6am we stumbled to our hostel. The kind receptionist let us go straight into our room so we decided to have an extra couple hours of sleep. When we arose, energised and excited to explore a new place - there is always this inital sense of adventure and the unknown which never becomes old or unexciting in a new place.
We were dressed for the beach.... but oh my life. There was a storm. Lucy couldn't believe it! Her last day with me alone and there was going to be no sun?! We threw on the waterproofs and ventured to a local chinese for breakfast. As we tucked into our traditional Vietnamese-style coffees (strong and plently of condenced milk) we were ushured to another table; the entire resturant was becoming flooded! The rain was sooo heavy and the drops so large the resturant was having to take the extra water! The little girl on the table next to us looked scared as she saw her flip-flops floating away before Lucy rescued them!
We decided to duck out in the hotel and sort a few bit before venturing on a bike ride. The sun surely did come out as we cycled through the town, approximately a 5 hour ride and we were exhaused! We dropped the bikes back at the hostel before hitting Jonker Walk. A street we had previously identified as having serious shopping, food AND drinking potention - could I even dream for any more!? A few small purchases later (including a rather colourful mask that I am very pleased with) we tucked into a jug of beer and a very hot and very spicy 'hot pot' with squid and prawns. Delicious but our lips and mouth were burning, if not already burnt off our faces by the end of the dish! A good meal to conclude Malaysia on. Can't believe its another country in the morning. Asia is going simply too fast.
