What an amazing start to my travels. After a sweet flight (thanks to my old friend temazepam) I arrived in Munich and caught the train straight to Salzburg. There I had a lovely reunion with Daisy and Jordan who have been living there for the past 4 months. Last time that I was in Salzburg I really loved it, but it was an even better experience to meet up with them and be given the insiders knowledge of what to do and where to go.
The first night I met most of the lovely people that have been living in Daisy and Jordan's Heim (home). Most of them are from Europe so it was great to meet a variety of people from different backgrounds. One of the first people I met was Andrea (nicknamed Big Mama). The first thing she asked me was "So you are from Australia right?" My response "Yes Big Mama I live where Jordan and Daisy live", elicited a confused look upon her face, followed by "But then why are you so white?" And thus begins a week of teasing me because of my slightly pale complexion. Matters were not helped when on my second day there on a lovely 25 degree day, I got some severe sunburn on my shoulders and neck. When will I learn? Sorry Mum for all those years of putting sunscreen on me every single day...
I spent most of the week hanging out with Daisy, Jordan and the rest of their lovely friends. Salzburg is truly a beautiful place and I just cant believe how lucky they are to live there! Being in such a great environment has really made me excited to get to Texas! Even though they are at the end of their study semester (erasmus) and the tears are flowing at the thought of them saying goodbye, I really can't wait to start my own studies and settle down in another country. Not that I'm expecting El Paso to be anywhere near as picturesque as Salzburg!!!
We celebrated Jordan's 22nd birthday on Saturday night and a great night was held. Aside from the fact we were ridiculously hungover from Friday night, we backed it up and partied until the wee hours. It was sad to say goodbye to Daisy and Jordan knowing that I'm not going to see them again for many months but I'm so grateful that I was able to spend a brilliant week with them. I'm now in Alicante, which is a beach town south of Valencia. Just ate some amazing Paella!! Am heading to Valencia tomorrow so will do a Spain update in a few days time. Dankeschon Salzburg, Hola Spain!!!! Xxxx
