HELLO!!! I know you are all gagging for a blog fix, but as I have just spent the best part of an hour writing a highly witty and entertaining (even if i do say so myself!!) 2 day entry and managed to delete it (whoop-whoop good work Sarah!) you are going to have to settle for this slightly shorter less funny version!!
Yesterday was the start of our organised trip which started with an unfortunately early morning!! (something i think we may have to get used to for this trip and fast!!) We were checked out of the hotel by 9am and ready to go for a boat ride on the Klong and then onto to see the reclining budda. The boat ride was brilliant for seeing another side of Bangkok!! And it was amazing to see some of the locals houses that literally sit on the river (even their postboxes are stuck in the river!) We fed some MAHUSIVE cat fish from the boat, who were obviously used to being fed by the tourists as they had literally flocked around the boat and were jumping out of the water waiting for their bread!
After the Klong we went on to see the reclining budda that, as you will see from the photos is amazing- it is absolutely huge!! (but how much is there to really say about a huge gold man lying down??!) We then went with the other girls on our trip for a traditional Thai Massage. Relaxing...U may be thinking, and it was amazing until they started pulling my fingers out from the routes and bending us in ways we really shouldn't be bent...But the result was great, they obviously knew what they were doing!!
Then onto Khoa San Road for a quick drinkies and an icecream- ready to be back at the hotel for 4 o'clock to leave for the overnight train from bangkok to Chiang Mai!! YES A 14 hour TRAIN JOURNEY...What were we thinking!!!! The train was interesting to say the least (check out the pics!!) there were no cabins, but a DIY bed dropped down from hooks on the ceiling and the normal seats pulled out to make another bed! Guess who shotgunned the bottom bunk?? YEP...Naomi, so i ended up suspended from the ceiling of the train, with a small clip to stop me falling out!! Have to admit though, it was hillarious and felt like the real start of our adventures..It was a real experience!! Not easy to sleep (from both the excitement and the huge amount of sweets we had before we got on the train!), but in the end we both managed to get a bit of sleep!!
We arrived in Chiang Mai at 7 o'clock this morning and went for a quick breakie en-route to our next hotel! Where we dropped off our things and straight back out to.....you are not going to believe what we did next...(Nana close your eyes I don't want you worrying about this)....GO ELEPHANT RIDING!!!! Yep...me and Naomi went elephant riding!! It was the most amazing experience, we both loved it!! (u have to look at the photos!) There was only room in the 'seat' for 2 people so I had to go bareback on the elephants head (they aparantly don't mind!! And ours seemed quite happy, VERY greedy but happy!) It was great we were on the edge of a jungle riding through some tiny paths up some really steep hills on an elephant!!! (I still can't believe it myself!!)
After the elephants we went on to go bamboo rafting in a fast running water river on the edge of the jungle- the views were amazing, Got very wet but it was brilliant! Then visited another temple (same as the last, but on a hill...300 and something steps up!!) We are leaving Chiang Mai tomorrow first thing, so may not get chance to update you again for a while.
Sorry it has been a bit rushed, had a mare with the first attempt!!!
Love u all lots and lots and I hope u are all well!!!
Love hugs and kisses
Sarah and Naomi
