Sarah & David's Travels
Its been a while since we last updated, but we have been so busy and done so many amazing things!! We left Bangkok for a few days to go to the north of Thailand - Chiangmai. There we went white water rafting which was amazing, we got so wet! There was points when the raft was full of water and we all nearly were swept away, great fun though. We also went elephant trekking in the jungle, we had a greedy elephant, kept on wanting feeding, sneezed all over David - lovely. Bamboo rafting sounds nice and relaxing but when you have a crazy driver that takes you into every rock and bush he can find its not really but it was good fun. We now can officially cook Thai food too! We went on a cookery course and learnt how to cook a few dishes, dinner was included as we got to eat all our dishes too and no washing up!!! We've got the cookbook so maybe we'll be able to remember how to do it when we get back. Main part of the Chaingmai trip was our hilltribe trek. We walked nearly 40km in three days, may not sound that much but in the heat and going uphill it was hard work! Never sweated so much in our lives - nice! We had to wash in the river on the first day and then the waterfall on the second. Was so cold and I think we probably came out dirtier but it was an experience. Stayed in villagers huts for two nights with the rest of our group, everyone was really nice - we laughed so much. Children in village played football with us and sang to us. David and his team (another 3 20-somethings) lost against 4 thai boys (about 8 yrs old), oh and a girl in goal!! David blames the surface - clay but I think it is just due to his poor footballing skills - he would obviously never make a pro blaming it on other things.
