It was nice to be in the sun again. Only 33 degrees today. I here the snow has caused Burns Night to be cancelled. I knew January was a good time to be here. Fremantle market was good. We had Cicerellos fish and chips today ( the Harry Ramsden equivalent).

From the ferry landing we went straight to jail!! Well a visit to the local prison which was built by British convicts in the 1850's and closed in 1991. It's modelled on Pentonville. The picture is the first cell built which is only 4ft by 7ft.

The day started by looking at the Swan Bell Tower at the Perth pier. The bells came from St Martins in the field in London. From there we went down the Swan River, passed very expensive houses and boats. The picture shows the tree top bridge we had been on in Kings Park. Perth is expensive. Over £7 for a pint. We understand other parts of Australia are cheaper.

This picture is of the Hong Kong race course. We did not know a meet was on when passing. The course is surrounded by high rise buildings generation an amazing spectacle. Today is Australia day.
