Ao Nang, Krabi
So yet again another bus journey, broken up by a ferry crossing in between. When we arrived at Krabi bus station we had to take a taxi to Ao Nang (the area of Krabi we were staying in) - and indeed the area where we due to meet Mum and Vicky later that night! Our taxi driver (not a real taxi of course!) recommended somewhere to stay and we checked it out; it was ok so we stayed! After a short rest, shower and change we went out to locate the hotel which Mum & Vic were booked in to. All that done and we went to watch the merseyside derby whilst waiting for them to arrive!! We met them just as they were checking in to the hotel, although they were minus their luggage which was, apparently, still at Bangkok airport! With the promise of the luggage arriving the next morning we went to get some food and found the local bars.
We spent the first day walking aroud the area and checking it out, including a nice walk around the rocks on Ao Nang beach, where there is often wild monkeys - but we didn't see any. The missing cases arrived approx. 9pm so Vicky was still wearing a pair of my shorts and Mum a sarong of mine, for dinner that evening, but the cases were waiting for them when they got back. On our second day in Krabi we went on a day trip; it was an early start so we were glad the the first stop was at the lovely hot water springs - nice and relaxing. The springs were genuinely like a hot bath and they were shaded by a thick canopy above. Next we went on to the natural spring "Emerald Pool" for a lovely swim. Then it was a hearty and beautiful lunch before we moved on to the Tiger Temple cave - luckily the couple hundred steps to the top were closed as it had started to rain by this point - they looked hard work and trecherous!! The day wouldn't be complete without a thai massage; and with all 4 of us in a row the massage wouldn't have been complete without lots of giggling - but it was a very good massage too!!!
