Fun in Fiji! We are in paradise!!! Fiji is beautiful and people are soooo friendly it is unbelieveable! We are staying in the Funky Fish Beach Resort in our own Beach Hut. The resort is very small but perfectly formed, the hut is basic but what there is, is a fantastic view (sea is 20ft from our front door), the food here is just like you would find at a Gordon Ramsey Restaurant but at Maccy D's prices and with less swearing! The staff are so accomodating, especially Joe who organises so many activities like snorkelling, fishing and crab racing! We attended a traditional Kava Cereomy which is a drink made from the root of a tree (Rose it aint!!). If you don't hear from us within a week you know we have decided to stay here forever. We met a guy at the marina from Oz who came here 22 years ago for 2 week holiday and not been home since.. you do the math! We did some snorkelling which consisted of the two of us and 1 driver named Abdul. We drove out for miles it seemed and the anchor was dropped! Sarah jumped in like something out of Splash (looking like Daryl Hannah), and was halfway to New Zealand before Chaz would let go of the side! We saw some beautiful fish and coral, getting back into the boat was another matter entirely and had to get back up without the use of a ladder. With legs and arms akimbo, we finally got back in. Poor Abdul, I think he's still sitting in a dark room recovering from the experience. When we got back to land, Mikey, one of the staff at Funky Fish gave us a lesson in the 'tree of life' aka the Coconut Tree. All very interesting and we now know that if we were to be stranded on an island at any point over the new few months, we will be able to survive from drinking the milk, eating the fruit, weaving a basket and using the shells as bras! However, we don't think there is a big enough coconut to cover the breasticles of Miss Leathers!! We were very sad to leave Funky and go the boat and stayed at the Mercure hotel where we lapped up the 4 star luxury they had to offer.
