So we arrived and had the usual orientation walk, taking in vague surroundings, assessing where the temple and lake was and most importantly where the shops were! We also discovered a German bakery (which so the best apple crumble ever!) After spending far too much money shopping we went to a cultural show with the rest of the group and saw some amazing acts including - a peacock dance, women balancing fire on their heads and a little old lady who could balance ten water pots on her head whilst dancing...
After this we went to a random restaurant and watched Octop**** parts of which were filmed in and around the town (practically every restaurant shows it every night)
Yesterday we went to the City Palace, which was very beautiful (and very busy) and then took a boat ride around the lake so we could see some of the beautiful hotels (converted palaces) up close and personal. After this we once again went shopping! (suprise suprise) In the evening we took part in an AMAZING cookery course, there we just six of us and we cooked, watched and ate our way through four hours of education! We can now officially make chai, chapati, curry and potato koftas :)
Today we went to visit the City Palace once again but this time we managed to see the private grounds of the Mahara (King of Udaipur) and we even managed to sneak into his private temple. This was followed, obviously, by a visit to the Germany bakery (4 visits in 3 days) and we have not done an awful lot since, being on a complete mission to get Henna i managed to get my hand done and Sarah got the Sun done on the back of neck (for freeeeeeee) this was done at a local Art school, they also drew a tiny peacock on one of my nails and a camel on one of Sarahs (pictures will follow)
We are now preparing ourselves for our overnight train tonight.... Wish us luck!!
