Hellllooooo.
We arrived in Nha Trang bright and early and after little sleep we decided it would be a great idea to attempt to run along the sea front. We did about 2 minutes then decided to swin in the sea instead. The Nha Trang beach is incredible a bit like paradise so we spent the day in a swanky beach club lazing around on the sun loungers :). We also met an ex army guy who gave us lots of advice about what to do and where to go.
Day 2 we wanted to explore the nearby islands however the only way we could do this was through a booze cruise we should mention now that nha trang in the evening is a bit like Benidorm with lots of english 18 year olds so we were dubious about the trip....and rightly so as before we even got on the boat a fight broke out between 5 english idiots and a russian family!!! (Possibly Maffia) The english guys were a bit of a nightmare all day however we met a lot of other nice people so all was ok. Our favourite island would have to be the one where we snorkelled the water was so clear and there were corals and fishes!!! So this was amazing, In the evening we went out for a curry with some of the girls we met on the boat and ended the evening with some drinks and cards.
We spent our final day in Nha Trang with a pamper session at Thap Ba Spa where we enjoyed a mud bath, mineral bath and hot springs. After a months travelling it was nice to feel clean!! All in all Nha Trang is beautiful in terms of beaches but maybe a bit club 18 to 30 in the evening!!
Next stop was Ho Chi Minh City (aka Saigon) without planning we had travelled down Vietnam always bumbing into 3 English guys. So we all decided to explore Saigon together. On our first night we went for Steak and then had a couple of beers on plastic chairs in the street (similar to Hanoi).
Day 2 We set off to the Cu Chi Tunnels! Our guide Jackie was an ex soldier and very keen to talk about the war so it was very interesting, We could go on for hours about the war as we are now very knowledgable but basically the war was the North of Vietnam and the Vietkong against the South and America. The Vietkong built the tunnels outside of Saigon to attack the South and they did this through booby traps and hiding in the tunnels. We got to go through one of the original tunnels and the tunnels that are orginal but have been made bigger for tourists (ie fat brits). Vicki stepped up and went through the tiny tunnel with the guys, I attempted it but got in and panicked and had to be dragged out. Turns out im very claustraphobic. The tunnel was extremely dark and was infested with bats!!! After the tunnels the guys did some shooting we passed on this as it was expensive!!!
Next stop was the war remnants museum. This was pretty horific and the pictures we put up will speak for themselves. Lets just say the US were horrible and did unspeakable things to the Vietnamese.
This pretty much sums up the remainder of our journey in Vietnam, hopefully (if we get through the border) we will tell you all about our first part of Cambodia :)
Lots of Love xxxxxxxxxxx
