Guayaquil to Cuenca
I managed to get to breakfast earlier this morning and was rewarded for my efforts. They had made these delicious quinoa fritters - amazing gluten free goodness. I then went to the post office to send home all my big bulky jumpers (bar one which I'll keep for air conditioned buses). I was looking forward to having more space in my rucksack again - yay. It was expensive and quite a long process. I particularly liked the part where she literally covered my parcel in stamps, you could hardly see the cardboard anymore!
When I got back to the hostel, myself and two other girls shared a taxi to the bus station together to start the leg of our next journey - to Cuenca. We found a bus and were on our way before we knew it. The drive was quite beautiful as we ascended into the southern highlands. I thought I would like this city as it has a lot of history and is a bit more quaint than Guayaquil. I was staying in a budget hotel very close to the historical centre.
At 7pm that night I met the two girls from, Jaclyn and Rae from the Guayaquil hostel for dinner. We had a lovely meal in a recommended lonely planet place called cafe eucalyptus. I had Pad Thai, followed by flourless chocolate cake and we shared a bottle of white wine - very civilized. I returned for a great nights sleep in my budget private double room and a lovely hot shower - back to dorm beds soon so I better enjoy it!
