9/6 Isla del Sol?Copacabana and La Paz
Im feeling better myself but its rained all night and it was raining hard, on Isla del Sol! the one day we had chosen to spend exploring the island of the sun and its raining. We try and wait the rain out, having breakfast with a favourite waiter but with no luck. We weigh up the options and decide, in the wet the treking on the island was off. We all headed back to Copacobana with the plan of an earlier bus to La Paz. A massive lunch later and who could have guessed what buying a ticket would be like. We were mobbed by 6 groups of people offering us tickets all at once.
Somewhere in the middle of the pointing and yelling we all made it over to the same bus as a group and we survived. The bus to La Paz was like any other, with so many people on a little bus and some confusion. This one included a ferry/barge crossing and it turns out thr drivers really wanted to be race car drivers. The barge drives decided to race and it made it all a little more interesting. Just when you thought a coach on a small wooden barge named 'the titanic' wasn't fun enough. We stopped with a foot gap and clunked off at some speed. Of corse no bus trip on a local bus is complete with lots of horn action and a few confusing parts. The next bit had it all as we arrived in La Paz peak hour. When we finally 'arrived,' we had to wonder, where the hell in La Paz are we? This is not the bus stop! We arrived somewhere in La Paz so naturally the next step is to get into a questionable taxi. He turned out to be a really nice guy and by Bolivian standards, a safe driver.
We all headed out for a great dinner of Mexican and then returned to the hotel to drop Sarah off as she was wrecked. The rest of the night was a crazy adventure with Joe and Laura taking us all over La Paz a few times, never to be repeated... Until a few days later!!
